VegasCon 2010 is upon us with a fresh new venue! Mark it on your calendars, because from Thursday, March 4, 2010 through Sunday, March 7, 2010, we will be moving our party to the Excalibur to spend four days partying like rockstars. Last year we rode in a stretch limo every single day. This year we plan to top that. There will be partying, drinking, socializing with friends both old and new, a birthday party for our very own Solomon and much, much more! What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas (mostly), so don't worry about losing any dignity or respectability as you let your hair down and find out just what your friends are like when they aren't glued to the computer gaming for ranks.
Early registration is $30 and is available through February 20th. The price at the door will be $40. There is a block of 30 rooms set aside at the Excalibur, so just use the code "XRealms" when you book your reservation. The rooms are $51 on Thursday and $91 on Friday and Saturday nights. For those of you that like to arrive early and leave late, we have secured a few rooms for Wednesday night and Sunday night as well at the $51 rate. These special rates will only be available until February 1st, so book your room soon!
As always, this site will be your source for the most up to date information.
Believe me, I've heard every complaint possible about the Sahara. It's old. The rooms are crappy. The maids don't really clean. The doors don't close/lock all the way. There's no good places to eat inside. The biggest complaint by far of course being the Sahara's location in relation to everything else that is cool on the strip.
We sought to remedy that this year. After calling around trying to find the best rates possible, the Excalibur became the new home for VegasCon 2010. The benefits more than make the higher room rate worth the move.
Of course, with the move comes some downsizing a bit. More specifically, we will not have a suite/meeting room this year. It comes down to money; Excalibur wants $399 a day for us to have a hospitality suite, in addition to a $50 fee per person per day for us to use their food and beverage service (mandatory) if we take a hospitality suite. This simply was not worth it. Thinking back to last year, we did not sit in the suite all that much save for the last night when we stayed up all night. Most times the suite was just a meeting place for us to plan what we wanted to do for the day/evening. I can assure you that we will be able to have a good time as a group without the suite.
In the days leading up to the event as well as during, this site will serve as an information source to let you know what is going on as it happens. Additionally, a Twitter account has been set up, and paired with this site, it will serve as an announcement system for your activity director (moi).
Of course, if people want or absolutely must have meeting space, we can raise the price of VegasCon tickets to somewhere around $200 per person to compensate, but I figured we'd all rather spend the extra money on booze and gambling. Wouldn't you agree? The comments on open; feel free to share your thoughts.
This will be especially useful to you when we are actually in Vegas. Consider it your best information source for what will be going on.
